Created in 2002, the annual award recognizes an individual, organization or community group that best represents the positive changes each of us can make in the lives of individuals with disabilities.
Nominees must serve the disabled community and have primary operations in San Diego. In addition, recipients are judged on their ability to fill a “void” in San Diego, prevalence in the community, current projects and recent activity, and ability to change societal views of people living with disabilities.
Past Recipients have included Silver Gate Yacht Club, Challenged America, Scripps-Mercy Behavioral Health’s A-Visions Program, La Jolla Playhouse, Torrey Pines Kiwanis, and San Diego Adaptive Sports Foundation’s Injured Servicemembers Program.
